Sports injury therapy deals with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of injuries and pain arising specifically from sport, and can involve acute injuries such as ligaments sprains, muscle or tendon tears or issues arisen due to poor biomechanics.

Our Proactive Physio team share a special interest in the treatment of sports injury and place great importance on precise assessment and treatment of a range of conditions to enable our clients to return to optimal function and to minimise the risk of further injury.

Pilates is the ultimate body conditioning system. Incorporating both floor exercise and specialised equipment, Pilates works to build and balance muscle strength and core stability – essential for fitness, vital during pregnancy and crucial to long term physical health.

Proactive Physio’s long running, and highly regarded, Pilates program is lead by Clinical Pilates-trained, qualified Physiotherapists in a purpose-built gym.

Dedicated floor and equipment sessions, tailored for individuals and groups, are available six days a week.

Feel the knead!

Massage is a specialised therapeutic technique which uses the process of stroking, kneading and pressing to alleviate discomfort and repair damage to muscles, tendons and joints. Massage can relieve stress and tension, encourage blood flow, stimulate nerves and increase joint mobility and flexibility, as well as benefitting a myriad of other physical ailments.

Proactive Physio’s experienced massage therapist offers remedial massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, sports massage and relaxation massage, but will always tailor the approach to suit individual needs.

Scott MacKay
PHYSIOTHERAPIST / OWNER

Principle physiotherapist and founder of Proactive Physio, Brisbane’s first wholly integrated physiotherapy and Pilates studio, Scott is one of Queensland’s leading practitioners with a loyal long-term client base to prove it.

Scott studied Human Movements before completing a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland. He is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Associated, the Sports Physiotherapy and Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Group of Australia. He has also completed a Clinical Pilates Instructor Course – a qualification he has been putting into practice for over ten years.

With a special interest in sporting and spinal injuries, Scott was consultant physiotherapist to the Australian Air Force for four years and consulted to The Queensland Reds for two years. He has also worked with Queensland AFL and Rugby Union teams as well as National Defence Force Basketball.

Matt Jenner
PHYSIOTHERAPIST & PILATES INSTRUCTOR

The longest serving team member, Matt joined Proactive Physio in 2004 and continues to uphold the proactive approach, philosophy and commitment for which the studio is famed.

Matt completed a Masters of Physiotherapy as well as a Bachelor of Exercise Science at Griffith University and is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association and the Sports Physiotherapy and Musculoskeletal Group of Australia.

Matt has a strong background in exercise prescription and treatment of sporting injuries, having worked with Queensland Cup Rugby League and Rugby Union teams as well as numerous state elite and sub-elite athletes.

Matt Rice
PHYSIOTHERAPIST & PILATES INSTRUCTOR

In early 2016 we welcomed newest team member, physiotherapist and Pilates instructor, Matt Rice.

Matt completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy at The Australian Catholic University in 2015 whilst also working with a range of junior sporting teams, including Terrace football, rugby, cricket, volleyball and basketball, to provide acute injury management.

Matt brings with him a keen interest and fresh approach to tackling sporting injury and musculoskeletal injuries.

Cancellations A cancellation fee based on the full price of the respective appointment will apply to all physio patients and Pilates attendees who fail to notify us of their inability to attend their appointment at least 12 hours prior. We at Proactive Physio want to ensure that everyone has the same opportunities to utilise our equipment and services, thus are required to charge a full price cancellation fee.
