As director and lead physiotherapist at Proactive Physio and father of four, life is pretty hectic and finding time for a well-rounded fitness regime is no mean feat. Clients and friends often ask how I juggle my commitments and manage to keep in such good shape. The answer lies in my own custom-designed high-intensity interval training program and, lucky for the good folk of Brisbane, it’s now available at Proactive in the form of Club Interval.
The launch of Club Interval is the culmination of years spent honing a concise all-in-one workout – combining running, Pilates and circuit training with maximum intensity and efficiency – to boost cardio, muscle strength and core control.
Gone are the days of cramming two or three runs, two gym and two Pilates’ sessions into each week. Your fitness regime no longer needs to be a timely and costly exercise. Two to three 45 minute Club Interval sessions per week has all your bases covered.
Given the intensity of the 45 minute sessions, Club Interval is best suited to active 15-50 years olds who have a solid aerobic capacity, existing muscle strength and core control, as well as athletes requiring ‘body balancing’ to rehabilitate weak muscles and minimise overuse injuries. Club Interval is not a form of conditioning for sedentary individuals.
The general concept of interval training relies on the premise that bursts of high-intensity exercise interspersed with periods of low-intensity exercise provide aerobic and metabolic benefits but Club Interval’s combination of running, Pilates and circuit training ups the ante, delivering a much more holistic fitness solution.
